As a part of the Gallery's collaboration with artist Andrew Orr, join us for a springtime hike at picturesque Prospect Rock in Johnson. Andrew is making this location the subject of an upcoming painting, and will be discussing his process and painting prep with interested participants. You'll stop to chat, snack, and take in views as Andrew makes notes for his painting.

The Gallery's collaboration with Andrew, “A Journey of Place,” unfolds over a 5-year time span. The project launched in April and will culminate in Fall, 2031. During this time, Andrew will paint 4, one-of a-kind artworks, depicting familiar and far-flung locations around the state. To culminate each season of Andrew’s work, these paintings will be displayed at special Gallery receptions created to showcase and sell these special pieces. This hike is organized around Andrew's idea to paint in the Prospect Rock area.
DETAILS: The hike is for intermediate athletes. *This hike is not for beginners.
The hike will be led by avid Vermont and New York hikers Chuck & Gail Helfer.
There will also be representatives from the Bryan Gallery joining the group.
Hikers are encouraged to dress for the weather, including layers, proper footwear and adequate head/eye/bug protection. Please bring your own snacks and water as none will be provided.
The hike is FREE, but donations are welcome!
About Chuck & Gail Helfer:
Gail and Chuck have been life-long outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy hiking, biking and skiing. Their hiking experiences range from day hikes to backpacking trips throughout the US. Residing in Poultney VT for the last 23 years, they are members of the Green Mountain and Adirondack Mountain Clubs. They have hiked over half of the Long Trail, ascended many of the Adirondack high peaks and served as hike leaders for the ADK Cold River Chapter.
