Learn to make Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) in this unique, free-form workshop at the Bryan Gallery. ATCs are small artworks, created using a variety of techniques to both sides of a card. In this workshop, we'll explore making ATCs of our own, using a variety of materials and techniques. Layers, applications of different materials and collage are some of the techniques we will explore together. The three rules of ATCs: ATCs are always small - no larger than a playing card. They are never sold. They are always traded or given as gifts. ATCs began with an artist in Zurich, Switzerland in the late ‘90s. The idea that these miniature works of art could be easily made and traded became a “thing” that rapidly spread around the world. Lisamarie has worked in mixed media and collage for many years. She will guide you along in the process, with tips and techniques you can use to make your own ATCs!
Materials will be provided by the Gallery, including the cards. Participants are invited to bring favorite materials, tools, ephemera, gels, paints, and other types of “bits and bobs” to use to make their cards. There is a suggested materials list download on the registration page. No previous art skills are required – this class is all about making something unique, no matter your skill level. Suitable for ages 15+
Please feel free to download a list of suggested materials if you decide to bring some things of your own to use. The gallery will also be providing materials. The goal is to make your card as unique as you are!
